Create. Sip. Relax.

We’re Thread & Toast - a cosy, dog-friendly café with lots of gluten-free options and craft hub designed to bring people together over great coffee, homemade bakes, and a dash of creativity.

A cosy café in Basingstoke where good coffee, great food, and creativity come together. Whether you're dropping in for a quiet moment, meeting friends, or picking up a craft project, Thread & Toast is a place to slow down and make something.

We believe cafés should feel like home, crafts should be fun and accessible, and everyone (including your four-legged friends) should feel welcome.

Walks Near Thread & Toast

If you're planning a walk with a cosy stop-off, you're in the perfect place. Thread & Toast sits in the heart of a beautiful countryside estate, surrounded by some truly lovely walking routes.

We've shared three local walks you can enjoy nearby before popping in for a coffee, something to eat, or a well-earned rest.

As this is a working farm and home to our neighbours, we kindly ask that you stick to the footpaths, pick up after your dogs, and help us take care of the space we’re lucky enough to share.

Our Team

At Thread & Toast, we’re all about people, community, and wagging tails. Here’s the crew behind the coffee, cakes, and crafts:

Tory Simpson

Hi, I’m Tory, founder of Thread & Toast, trained chef, lifelong craft-lover, and someone who’s always got at least three creative projects on the go.

With a background in catering and a brain wired for curiosity (I have ADHD), I’ve always found joy in making things, whether it’s the perfect poached egg or a hand-stitched bookmark. But I never found a space that truly blended comfort, creativity and good food, so I built one.

Thread & Toast is the space I was searching for: warm, inclusive, a little bit beautiful, and especially welcoming for those of us who sometimes feel overwhelmed in traditional cafés or busy social settings. It’s a place to relax, make, sip, snack, and just be.

Come as you are and maybe leave with something you made.

Lisa Graves

Hi, I’m Lisa, co-founder of Thread & Toast, passionate baker, and the friendly face you’ll find front of house, ready with a chat and probably a slice of something delicious.

Baking has always been my love language. I’ve been making cakes for friends, family and neighbours for as long as I can remember, not just because I love the process, but because I love seeing people light up over a slice of homemade sponge.

To me, good cake brings comfort, and good conversation brings community.

I wanted to be part of Thread & Toast because it’s not just a café, it’s a space for slowing down, being creative, and feeling like you belong.

And if you leave with a warm heart and a crumb or two on your jumper, then I’ve done my job right.

Augustus

Augustus, or Augi, if you're on good terms (which you will be within 30 seconds), is our resident golden retriever with a heart as big as his tail wags.

He’s one year old, endlessly friendly, and fully convinced that everyone who walks through the door came specifically to see him.

He’s the café’s official greeter, professional floor-lounger, and part-time crumb collector.

Whether he’s offering you a paw, nudging for attention, or gently inspecting your toast (just in case it needs sharing),

Augs brings a little extra joy to every visit.

He’s goofy, gentle, and completely in love with the world, and the feeling’s mutual.

Clemmie

This is Clemmie, our bouncy, bold, utterly unapologetic black lab.

She’s one year old, full of beans, and fully convinced that every table is her table.

She’s not shy, she’s not subtle, and she absolutely will make herself known (and probably heard).

Where Augustus schmoozes, Clemmie charges.

She’s the first to welcome new customers, nose-first, and the last to give up on convincing someone to share a snack.

She loves chairs, laps, toast corners and attention, preferably all at once.

She's not here to sit quietly in the background. She's here to be part of the action, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thread & Toast is designed to be easy and relaxed, so we don't take table bookings. Simply walk in, grab a drink and a menu, pick a craft and make yourself comfortable.

If you're planning to visit with a larger group (10+ people), please drop us a message in advance so we can make sure there’s space.

Thanks for submitting! We'll be in touch.
